From Bodø, we sail almost 700 nautical miles south along the Norwegian coast to Ålesund, crossing the Arctic Circle. Countless archipelagos lie off the coast, and we experience Norway's nature at its most powerful. We navigate with utmost care through narrow skerries to remote islands, a sailing challenge that demands concentration and excellent seamanship.
At latitude 66° 33′ N, we cross the Arctic Circle, which runs right through the remote Træna archipelago, well worth a visit. The further south we travel, the darker the nights become, and we experience spectacular sunsets over the sea. We make stops in idyllic fishing harbors with brightly painted wooden houses, and on land, a floating sauna awaits, followed by an ice bath.
Even in summer, the weather on the North Sea is changeable and can bring strong winds. In strong winds, we make our way south through the sheltered sounds behind the large islands. We decide on our route together with the crew based on the weather conditions and handle strong wind scenarios responsibly.
Depending on the crew's ambition, we also sail a multi-day non-stop leg southwards, keeping watch day and night. On these stretches, the SY Imagine demonstrates its speed and seaworthiness. This allows us to strike a balance between sporty legs at sea and shore excursions along Norway's impressive coastline.
