Our sailing trips typically last 9-12 days. Ideally, you would be available for several consecutive sailing trips. The time between trips, i.e., days without crew on board, is used for maintenance and organizational tasks. This allows for continuous employment.

Requirement

For this job you absolutely need German language skills. Sportseeschifferschein or the Sport High Seas Skipper Certificate.

On commercially operated recreational craft flying the German flag, the skipper must possess the required nautical certificates. The BG-Verkehr (German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Transport Sector) provides us with the guidelines for crewing.

Successful applicants can demonstrate relevant experience as commercial skippers or instructors.

Role & Task

You are responsible for the execution of sailing trips and training. Ship handling and training in the areas of navigation, safety, seamanship, and ship and crew management.

We expect a outstanding competence in the field of ship handling. To fulfill your role, you are experienced in handling sailing yachts over 15 meters. All maneuvers performed are intended to serve training purposes and should be demonstrable by you as an instructor.

Furthermore, the role places the highest demands on your organizational skills with regard to the Crew Leadership. You are jointly responsible for creating passage plans, implementing watch systems, and preparing meals at sea.

Your duties also include the upkeep of the yacht, cleaning on board, and provisioning for sailing trips.

The handling and maintenance You will be required to provide your own technical equipment (electrical, diesel engine, plumbing). This applies to remote islands and locations where we cannot rely on outside help.

We don't expect you to be an outstanding regatta sailor. Our sailing trips are based on the vision of sporty offshore sailing with adventure potential. You should be able to identify with that and share your passion for it. Adventures at Sea can share with the crew.

Remuneration

Typically for this industry, in Daily rates paid. Please tell us your Fee expectations Include it in the application letter.

During your time on board you will receive Full board Taking your food preferences into account. You are entitled to a Single berth Bed linen and towels are provided.

Of course, your Arrival and departure costs (Economy class tickets) covered.
