On our Caribbean sailing trips, we explore the islands of the Antilles. Our base is Guadeloupe, centrally located in the island chain between Antigua to the north and the Grenadines to the south. From here, we can head north to islands like Antigua or St. Martin, south to Martinique, St. Vincent, and even Grenada, or combine both directions. We decide which islands to visit together with the crew, tailoring the route to our preferences and their wishes. This freedom is part of the concept and makes each sailing trip a unique Caribbean adventure.
Even in the Caribbean, we remain true to our offshore DNA. Instead of short day trips from bay to bay, we sail longer overnight legs, covering many nautical miles and reaching more distant islands. On these multi-day voyages, the SY Imagine truly shines. As part of the crew, you'll be at the helm, trimming the sails and navigating. We sail around the clock in a watch system, and the crew quickly finds its rhythm of watches, navigation, and life on board. This transforms the Caribbean into a genuine sailing adventure for those seeking more than just a beach holiday and crewed sailing.
The Caribbean offers ideal conditions for our style of sailing. The trade winds blow very consistently from east to northeast and are highly predictable, allowing us to plan our route several days in advance. Since the island chain runs from north to south and the trade winds blow perpendicular to it, we usually sail with a broadside in both directions. It also stays warm at night, making night sailing under the Caribbean stars particularly enjoyable. Things get exciting in the open passages between the islands, where the trade winds blow in unimpeded from the Atlantic, and the wind and waves increase noticeably. We decide together, based on the wind and weather, where the next leg of our journey will take us.
The longer sailing legs give us ample time to truly explore the selected islands. In English Harbour on Antigua, the British seafaring tradition lives on today; breathtaking volcanoes rise on St. Vincent; Grenada is known as the Spice Island; and on Martinique, a visit to a rum distillery is highly recommended. On land, we hike through the rainforest, climb one of the volcanoes, and enjoy grilled lobster under palm trees. Of course, we also plan time to anchor off a white sandy beach and experience the crystal-clear, turquoise waters.
We also chose Guadeloupe with your travel arrangements in mind. The island is exceptionally well-connected via Paris and offers significantly more flight options than many other Caribbean islands. When planning your itinerary, we carefully analyzed flight schedules and strategically selected start and end days for the days of the week with the best connections.
